Welcome! An important little introduction from me before you dive in…
While social media offers an abundance of entertainment, knowledge, and connection, it comes at a hidden price: your time, energy and attention. What begins as a quick check or innocent browse, spirals into a soul-sucking vortex that leaves you exhausted and wondering where the hours went. This is becoming increasingly harder to avoid due to the way social media apps are evolving. If you look at Instagram for example, it now auto-scrolls through video suggestions on your behalf.
The addictive nature of social media, combined with constant notifications and FOMO-inducing feeds, keeps us trapped in an endless loop of scrolling, swiping, and liking, giving time to a world that takes us away from the present moment. Before we know it, valuable time that could have been spent on meaningful activities, personal growth, and genuine connection slips away, stolen by the insidious grasp of the internet. We casually say “Time flies” as our days pass by rapidly. Our minds and bodies try to keep up with the speed of processing so much needless information.
Have you ever stopped to ponder the true cost of this destructive behaviour in your own life?
In this month’s instalment of Fill Your Own Cup, I’m going to dive deep into the attention traps of social media. These platforms are designed to keep us addicted and it’s having a huge impact on our lives. I aim to shed light on the soul-sucking effects of the internet, and I am going to offer tried and tested life hacks and insights that will help you unplug from your devices and reconnect with your true self.
Grab a pen and paper and get ready to make space for more time, energy, clarity and sanity in your life. Let this be the last bit of information you take in for today! 😜
